Halleluja it is strawberry time again, which is the beginning of “jam-time” and summer Sunday afternoon routine. I guess it has something to do with my upbringing: my grand ma as well as my mother were crazy about making “Marmalade”. No matter how busy I am: I never buy jam in a super market and produce it myself instead. It’s really super easy, done in less than 1 hour, fun to prepare and everybody can do it. Actually I believe it is almost impossible to fail… And because it is impossible for me to eat 30 glasses per year (this is about how many I produce π) I use it as little gifts for my friends.
When it’s strawberry time in Germany, you will find lots of small pop-up selling stations that solely sell the red tasty fruit that still smells like strawberry and tastes like the real thing. I so love that as it provides us with really fresh fruits without big hazzle.
The lady that has the “kiosk” closest to me is super friendly, happy to engage with her customers, asks how we will eat the strawberries and is eager to learn if one produces jam and if yes how. “Do you mix it with other berries? ….. “Just strawberries is the best jam anyway ….” She also doesn’t just give you strawberries, everyone gets to decide which ones only when that happened she is handling them over. β
